Molly is an aspiring romance author in desperate need of a job and a place to stay. While the temp agency gave her several assignments, none seemed a good fit. Josh, co-owner and manager of the Rafter C Ranch, is in dire need of a housekeeper and cook, with the past several lasting just weeks or less. When Molly shows up at the Rafter C, Josh immediately tells her to leave, but with desperation comes persistence from Molly, and Josh's own desperation finds him agreeing to keep her on, at least until another person can be found. With a rocky start to their relationship, followed by an even rockier start to her job, it looks like Molly is going to be out of options sooner rather than later.
An interesting tale was woven for the last of the Hart siblings, one that very nearly brought a tear to my eye toward the end. Molly and Josh's chemistry was strong, but so was his angry, stubborn streak. The ranch hands added entertainment, humor, and just a great dose of stress relief at just the right moments. Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC, from which this review is based, in exchange for an honest review.
This is book three in the series and by far my favorite. While characters from the first book make an appearance, it an easily be read as a standalone.
Josh is the middle child of the three Hart siblings. He runs Rafter C ranch, which he co-owns with his siblings. He is bossy, has to be in control at all times and doesn’t tolerate mistakes or goofing off. His long time cook/housekeeper has left. He has been through multiple replacements since, running them all off with his attitude.
Molly is a spoiled rich girl who got cut off when she didn’t follow daddy’s directive. Her only skill is playing hostess for her father’s parties. She signs on with an agency in an attempt to find a job. Her “daydreaming” has gotten her fired from multiple jobs. Her last hope is the job at Rafter C.
Immediately Molly and Josh clash, and he attempts to send her on her way. She digs her heels in and gets him to agree to give her a trial run. They’ve both been burned by love, so neither is looking for it.
I loved the ranch hands, especially Lance. He loved to goad Josh, and it worked every time!
No steamy sex scenes, a little heavy petting and lots of kisses.

Molly Forrester is in desperate need of a job after striking out at her last few attempts. After growing up as the spoiled daughter of a business tycoon, Molly eyes were finally opened when she found out her fiancée was only marrying her to further his career. Now, with few skills but lots of determination, she has convinced the employment agency to give her one last shot. They are sending her to be cook and housekeeper at the ranch of Josh Hart.
Josh has been through six housekeeper/cooks in the past six months after his longtime housekeeper left. When Molly arrives at the ranch, Josh is ready to send her packing without even giving her a shot. He was burned by a beautiful woman in the past and only wants an older or homely housekeeper. But underneath his demanding and gruff exterior, Josh has a good heart, and ends up giving Molly a chance. He tells her that she can stay, only until he finds someone else to fill the position or she finds another position for herself. She takes that as an opportunity to prove herself, hoping that Josh will change his mind.
While her cooking skills leave something to be desired, Molly tries hard to make things work with the new job. The ranch hands all love her and much to Josh’s dismay, he finds himself falling for her charms as well. Molly, in turn, finds herself falling in love with both Josh and the ranch. This was a great, fun read. I loved both the characters and the story and thought it a great conclusion to the trilogy about the hart siblings. Molly’s innocence and determination played well off of Josh’s cynicism and lack of trust. Barbara McMahon writes with such depth that you can picture things in your head – not just the characters, but the landscape as well.

Mrs. Barbara McMahon generously sent me Book 3, Reckless Heart. She is an amazing writer and is able to bring to life her character, right from the pages of her books. Strong Handsome Alpha Male Rancher/Cowboy Hero and a Daydreaming, Unsuited, Stubborn, Fiercely Independent Housekeeper/Writer Heroin with similar pasts, who have been burn by people and do not want to depend on other or trust them either. It’s hard to learn to trust again when your trust has been broken by someone so close. Then there’s having people who think they can control your entire life, no matter your wishes. This book is so full of emotions and life; includes betrayal, heartache, loneliness, anger and suspense. Mrs. Barbara McMahon brings her characters to life, right off the pages of her book. You will laugh, cry, be sad and get agree right along with the characters. The need for a second chance at life and a chance to learn to trust and depend on others, when it comes so unexpected.
This book is a major page turner. I had such a hard time putting this book down. Before I knew it hours would pass by. Thank you so much for this book!!! I just loved Josh, Jace’s younger brother!!! What a HOTTIE!!!!! Who DOESN’T LOVE a COWBOY!!!!!! I also LOVE poor Daydreaming Molly!!!!
I really enjoyed reading Josh's story! Josh has been hurt by a gold digger and swears he doesn't need love in his life! Then, Molly arrives at the Rafter C as his new housekeeper. They're both attracted to the other, but Molly has been hurt too. One-click this amazing book and see what all happens before we get to the HEA! I throughly enjoyed this whole series and I can't wait to read more from Barbara McMahon!
